|"If you can breathe you can do Yoga"
(a rough translation from a quote from
I have been
teaching Yoga since 2012.
Viniyoga, a phrase coined by T.K.V. Desikachar, means working with vinyasa krama. This is to do with constructing a logical practice towards a desired goal, and respects a student's current capabilities, modifying postures where necessary, and aims to work sensitively with the breath and to synchronise breath with movement.
The Vini-Yoga approach to Yoga acknowledges the teachings of Desikachar. Desikachar has made Yoga more accessible to the West, adapting the traditional teachings he learnt from his father, Krishnamacharya, from 30 years of one to one study.
I was introduced to Viniyoga by Ranju Roy in 2011 and studied on the
Sadhana Mala teacher training programme with Ranju and Dave (Charlton) until 2013 (accredited Teaching Diploma by the British wheel of Yoga).
I recently completed the Sadhana Mala A.I.T. course (Art of Individual Tuition and Yoga Therapy, 2013 - 2015). I am a teacher member of the A.Y.S. (Association of Yoga Studies).
